About Steve

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." ~Mark Twain

My name is Steve Garufi, a single, 39-year-old, long-haired guy who lives in the mountain paradise that is Chaffee County, Colorado.

My primary vocation is being a Licensed Professional Counselor. (Yes, a "talk therapist.") I do a lot of hiking, mountain climbing and cycling in my free time. Other favorites: Eating ice cream, photographing sunsets, wasting hours on Twitter and dancing in my living room to old 70's disco and Michael Jackson tunes. I also go *HOG WILD* over my Arkansas Razorbacks. Wooo Pig Soooie!

In 2003, I took up the sport of cycling, and loved the impressive cardiovascular fitness it gave me. In 2008, I bicycled solo across America and completed my first book about that adventure; it is available and for sale. I also run www.bikeacrossamerica.org, which provides cycling information and encouragement for those who desire to bicycle across the nation. My tutorial videos on YouTube answer frequently asked questions I receive about this topic.

You are welcome to keep in touch via my social media pages:

I wish you the best in taking on your dreams!
